As we are full steam ahead in the growing season in the Denver Colorado area, I thought it might be fun to show you what’s in bloom this week.
The peak tulip blossom time is done. I have one variety of tulip still in bloom right now. Boy, what a great tulip season I had here this year! I can’t imagine my garden without tulips anymore. They provide several awesome weeks of brilliant color I would not normally have. But now that their blooms are nearly gone, other blooms are taking their place.
This is one area I have spent a considerable amount of effort on: trying to always have a constant flow of color in as many months as possible. Most flower beds pull double or triple duty. When some plants are spent, others in the same bed are beginning to shine.Oh, and let’s not forget about the annuals. Now that the threat of freeze is past, I’ve planted some tried and true annuals for that extra long-lasting punch of color throughout.
Something new I purchased and planted is the Sunny Knockout Rose. Looking forward to the bright yellow flowers this summer.
My backyard is even making me happy right now. Even as the lawn in the back looks death straight in the eyes (of my dogs), the backyard clematis are the shining stars right now. Thank goodness!
What’s growing in your garden this week?
