Pick Your Own Fruit and Vegetable Farms

Did you know there are farms all over where you can pay a price to pick your own fruits and vegetables?

Honestly, I had no idea these farms even existed until today.  I mean, I know about pumpkin patches. I didn’t realize you could do the same for all kinds of fruits and vegetables.

I was researching why my strawberries aren’t as sweet as I had hoped, when I stumbled upon someone in California talking about how they spent last weekend with their kids picking strawberries from a local farm. This prompted me to do a Google search on “picking strawberries in colorado farm” and located a site called PickYourOwn.org. There, they list pick-your-own farms for the majority of the United States and even farms in countries outside of the US.

Here are a few within decent driving range from my home that I’ll be visiting when they open this year for sure:

Berry Patch Farms

Veggiescapes

So if you’re inclined to get your hands dirty picking fresh produce for your family, but don’t have a garden of your own, be sure to check out a few of these farms in your area and state.
