Home lawn care could be as simple or complex as you make it. Before deciding to put in various varieties and colors of exotic plants it’s a good idea to consider just how much weekend time you could spend on the maintenance of these unusual plants, or in lieu of your own loving care, if you can afford to have a professional landscape team come around to take regular care of your plants.

Any kind of foliage that is not native to the area is called exotic plant and that means it will require more care and supplementary things such as special food, water or lighting conditions for it to bloom. So, one way to prevent from making lawn care in your home a time consuming task is to plant only native plants that are accustomed to fending for themselves, as it were.

Some individuals tend to find even the most basic lawn care a little tedious. Yep, even just lugging out the old lawn mower for a quick clipping can appear very tedious.

There is always the herbal lawn for those of us who look for a way to cut down on even basic lawn care. True, if you already have a lawn in place, or if the existing lawn is a particularly hardy variety such as St. Augustine or some kinds of crab grass, you may find it more work to get started. But you may find it worthwhile and even pleasurable to incorporate an herbal lawn if you don’t have a lawn yet or have a more fragile category growing.

A few years back I helped a friend put in a small backyard lawn using Legacy Buffalo grass. Only needing water about every 2 weeks, it was the perfect answer to this bachelor’s needs. Very little maintenance is needed for this type of lawn. Mowing every other week to keep it tidy, or once a month for a more natural look. It greens up a bit later than the traditional Kentucky Bluegrass lawn, but that’s OK for most people. With it’s soft green-blue color, Legacy Buffalo grass is a great solution for an arid location such as Denver, Colorado. Check out High Country Gardens for plugs and accompanying plants suited to the same climate and watering needs.
