Growing Vegetables and Strawberries in Topsy Turvy Planters

Topsy Turvy Tomato TreeHere’s something I’ve been wanting to try the last few years, the Topsy Turvy planters.

I have NO ROOM for an in ground veggie garden, so these planters are very appealing.

Just last weekend, I ended up getting  the Topsy Turvy Tomato Tree and a Topsy Turvy Strawberry Planter from Lowes.

Then I promptly went my favorite local nursery center, Nick’s Garden Center in Aurora. I’ve been going to Nick’s since the huge parking lot they have was a dirt field! The majority of the plants in my garden had their home at Nick’s before I purchased them.

The Tomato Tree has 6 holes. I put 3 different types of tomato plants (Roma, Patio, Beefsteak) in 3 openings. Then I put 3 different herbs in the other spots (oregano, basil, and cilantro).

The strawberry planter has 12 openings, which I split between some June bearing and some ever-bearing plants.

I tucked them away where the dogs are not able to get to them. Yes, my dogs are my garden’s recurring nightmare. What’s a girl to do?

I have high hopes that we’ll be eating a-plenty from our hanging garden this year!! I will keep you posted, for sure.

I’m tempted to go get a few more! (shhhh, don’t tell my husband) :)

If 2 are good, then 6 is better…right? That’s my motto!

What about you? Are you trying something new this year?
